Mr. Fish died Sunday night. This morning I found this in his place....my new friend :)

Last night I told Al that now I would have to talk to myself all day instead of my fish and that people were going to think I was crazy. So this morning he made this for me to talk to so I wouldn't think I was crazy. He's not much of a swimmer but he is really good at floating. Maybe I'll paint him red...

Tuesday we drove over to Arizona where it was cold to visit my brother David and his family.

Summer Vacation

This year we went to Island Park for a family reunion. And on Sunday we went to church in the old A-frame chapel.

We got there Saturday night just in time for some fishing, but since the fish weren't bitting we caught a frog instead..

Big Springs. the water comes right out of the mountain and forms this beautiful river.

We just couldn't get enough of those sulfur pots and spasm geysers in Yellowstone Park.

We saw herds of Bison and a few Elk. The Moose Al was waiting for didn't show up till we left on Wednesday.

Good thing we gassed up before we left, I don't think they were open for business.

This fire truck was the first of its kind here in Virginia City, Montana. Later replaced by the one now giving tours. Apparently they either no longer have fires, or the unlucky tourists have to help out when they do.

February trip to Moab

My friend Tim Smith rolled through town so we sought warmer climate and hit up Moab, Utah for the weekend. Rumor has it this has been the snowiest winter ever so while we found lots of sun there also was a lot of snow to be found. Enjoy:

Steph and I had a great Christmas Vacation. First we Hung out with Mark and Tiffany in Provo. Then we were off to Arizona to visit more of Steph's Siblings. Here's a few photos.

Tonight, I asked Stephanie to marry me and she said yes.

here's how it went down. I was planning a huge night so she couldn't say anything but yes but we were both sick. So plan B ended up being a picnic at my apartment instead of the candle-lit picnic under the stars at the park i took her to on our first date. I had the blanket laid down, with her favorite food (gummy bears) on her plate and two cups of her favorite beverage (apple juice) already poured. next to her plate was a plain white box. not being able to resist a surprise she when right for the present. she opened it up and inside was a ring box. she began to glow as she opened it, only to find a rhine stone encrusted bag tie.

A little side note, for the last few months whenever we talked about getting married i told her she was only getting a bag tie instead of a ring. When she opened the box, she said, "My Bag tie!" I sat next to her and asked if she would marry me. When she said yes, i pulled out the real ring. I took the bag tie off her ring finger to put the nice ring on and she got mad at me. "Hey, I wanted that." we compromised by putting the bag tie on her other finger but she wore both rings the rest of the night. i love that girl. enjoy photos below:

This is pretty weak, but my Reign was getting dusty and i needed to bust it out. But not to worry, i hit some huge stairs and drops this week... just not when fathead was around to snap the action shots. soon that will change, because these are just weak. but fathead also got some ride time, so it wasn't a total loss. hang in there until the next installment

July 4, 2007.

Doug [Al's boss at Taylor's bike shop] and Al after riding the lifts at Sundance for the first time.

It was the first of a day packed with fun. after riding was shooting with some people in my ward. it was a blazin' good time. then it was off to a BBQ with steph's aunt and uncle and some people on their street in spanish fork. and homemade fireworks show to top off a perfect day.

friday [18 may 2007] night's ride eventually let me to the enclave [an apartment complex south of campus] where i was able to have my picture taken on a bike in provo for the first time. enjoy.

finding a new jump.

finding a new place to ride is an interesting experience. thursday night for example: earlier in the week i found a place by beto's where the parking lot was paved at a 45 degree angle up to the side walk. on thursday i decided to check it out and see if it was a good spot. it's always bitter-sweet because it takes time to learn a new spot. and even more time for a new spot to become a good spot. it was a bit of a let down, but the more time i ride there, the more fun i'll have. so finding a new spot is good, but not as good as you'd think.

it's the same with dating.

a normal day in the life

a warm night and no work the next day means a late night of riding. tonight was no exception. i like to ride in places where there are lots of people so i tend to follow the same routes once i find them. i head over to the first spot which is the three way stop at 800 N and 200 E. there are four stairs leading up to the path that goes to the south-west corner of campus. they've paved next to these stairs so if i miss the hop up i don't hurt my bike. i usually hit this first to get warmed up and make sure my bunny hop is on for high jumps. there is also a six inch handy cap ramp across the street that, unlike most in provo, is ramped perfectly to pull lots of air. it feels like i get 3-4 feet of air, but who can be sure. all i know is that when i hit it hard, all the ladies stare.

tonight was different because i wanted to find new places to ride. i looked for a four stair that i try jumping up, but was unsuccessful. i did find a nice wall by the baskin robins to hop, about a foot high. i also hit the two foot wall by arby's. a good hop up and down. then was a new ledge on N canyon and 2230 N. i've known about it for a while but until now hadn't maned up to do it. timing the light right a foot high hop up slopes up to about three feet when you jump of the end. this puts you right in the middle of 2230 so timing is important. maybe once i get my table top down, this wall will be a little more fun. after riding around look for something and finding nothing i ended up Taylor's bike shop [this is where i work for those keeping score at home]. there 30 degree paved slope leading to a three foot wide island. normally there's a car parked there so i can only hit it late at night. tonight there was no car and it was a blast launching myself high into the air off the slope and clearing the island. the only thing that would make it better is if there was a run in on it. there's also a 6 foot island with a foot high rock on it that i need to work up to clearing. one day i'll bust it out after work and impress my co-workers.

i did well staying away from the usual stuff except for the first spot. next time i'll ride the that stuff and tell you about it. something to look forward to.

a fresh start, a new beginning...

since my life has revolved around riding my bike for that last 5+ years, i decided that the only way that i'll keep any sort of history of my life is if i talk about riding. especially since the only girl in my life is my cannondale. so prepare for my places to ride.
